Cotswold Cottage

A contemporary take on traditional Cotswolds cottage style.

This charming cottage started life as a small barn which was then converted into a cottage in the 1870s. Incredibly unusual for the area - it is built from traditional Cotswold stone at the back but when it was made into a cottage in the Victorian times they chose to use a red brick for the front.

Tucked away behind a beautiful garden cottage garden, the cottage is quite a fairytale in terms of location and design. Laura and Patrick sensitively updated the interior, whilst also adding a two-storey extension to create an extra bedroom, as well as a larger kitchen with a dining area. To start with Laura imagined she would create a very calm, traditional Cotswold interior filled with natural linens and a soft colour palette, but the cottage had other ideas! Laura felt the unique architecture deserved something stronger, so introduced monochrome elements and pops of colour against a lovely natural palette.

Laura and Patrick adore spending time at the cottage themselves, but also love to share it with others. It is available to rent for weekends and holidays.

Our kitchen design contrasts traditional shaker style cabinetry with dramatic marble to striking effect, and a bold Pierre Frey fabric adds bright colour notes to the black and white banquette area.

A pale colour palette keeps this room calm, with pops of colour in the art and upholstery. The painting above the mantel flips up to reveal a TV.

Modern touches juxtapose with classic natural materials and neutral Farrow & Ball tones.

The master bedroom en suite shower room is adorned with beautiful marble tiles.

Stunning newly renovated cottage very close to Soho Farmhouse, Daylesford Farm, Blenheim Palace and many other Cotswold gems. The house has excellent 300 MB fibre optic broadband throughout making it the perfect home away from home. Beautifully interior designed throughout, it’s a gorgeous and calming place to spend time.
