The Talbot Inn, Mells
A couple of weekends ago we headed down to Somerset, to one of our favourite villages in the world - where we got married in November 2012, the beautiful Mells. We booked to stay at The Talbot Inn, which is right next to the church in the middle of the gorgeous village - there were four of us plus one little one and we had the most amazing weekend!
The weather was perfect - we took advantage and walked across to Babington House for a swim and lunch - even though it was early March we even managed a bit of sunbathing on the comfiest loungers in the world - sitting there sipping ginger and honey tea whilst watching the clouds pass by overhead will be one of my most lasting memories of the weekend. It was utter bliss!
After a delicious lunch, we walked back across the fields to The Talbot, where I soaked in a bath full of bubbles before heading down to supper. The food at the pub is fantastic and at weekends there is the added bonus of The Grill restaurant, which runs in one of the outbuildings. The boys shared an amazing meat platter while I enjoyed some of the nicest pulled pork I've ever tasted.
I can't recommend this place enough. We were planning to try and pop back again for another weekend in a few month’s time, but it seems weekends are almost all fully booked for the rest of the year, so you have to book early!
