The Scent Of Summer...
Last weekend we were in the Cotswolds for the wedding of one of my close school friends and it couldn't have been more perfect. The sun was {obviously!} shining and the ceremony was in the garden of the beautiful Cripps Barn near Bibury. We spent a very happy afternoon and evening sipping champagne in said gorgeous garden surrounded by beautiful flowers and wonderful friends...a very special day.
Inspired by our surroundings at the wedding, our hotel and in the village of Bibury where all the gardens are chocolate box perfect, we decided to drop in at the Burford Garden Company on our way back to London. Despite feeling very hot, dehydrated after the wedding's festivities, and very irritated at being gazumped again on a potential project, the array of flowers there instantly lifted my mood.
I have recently become a little obsessed with roses, I think the main reason is that they are such keen climbers that there is room to grow them in our tiny little garden. They also flower throughout the summer and if you choose the right ones, smell amazing...what's not to love!
At the Burford Garden Company they had the best selection of roses and other flowers and plants that I've ever seen in one place. If we ever have a larger space outdoors I will hire a van and head straight down there to stock up...as it was we only managed to squeeze one small plant into the back of the mini, but The Generous Gardener now has pride of place on our patio and smells divine. I've also got my eye on the William & Catherine and the William Morris to complete my mini collection!
Enjoy the sunshine and have a wonderful weekend.
