Master Bathroom, Victorian Terrace in London

Following on from my post a few weeks ago where I shared a master bedroom that I designed for a Victorian house in Battersea, I would like to share the en suite bathroom I designed to go with it, which is one of the most decadent rooms I've ever worked on!

As with the bedroom, the main aim was to create a calming and decadent space where relaxation and indulgence were top priority! We took a good size double bedroom to create the bathroom and had two main options with the layout, the brief being to combine a luxury bathing space with storage and wardrobes. 

The first {and the one seen most commonly in SW London Victorian terraces} is to have a walk-through wardrobe in the first half of the room and then a smaller en suite shower room behind. I chose to design the room differently as I felt a sense of space was key to the feeling of indulgence and decadence. We slotted the bath between the two double wardrobes and chose to not include a walk in shower as the house already had two.

I chose an elegant Designers Guild fabric for the blind, the birds on the pattern linking with the birdcage chandelier light. Keeping costs down, we used a simple white metro tile, and added a darker grey grout for more interest.

Finally we made sure all fixtures and fittings were Victorian in style, including the radiator and taps.

GET THE LOOK: Walls are painted in Cornforth White by Farrow & Ball, the mirrors above the sink are from a Swedish Boutique, Birdcage Chandelier Graham & Green, Mirror on the wall by the bath is a family antique, but similar are available from online vintage stores and ebay.
