Homes Away From Home: The Bull Hotel, Bridport
Last weekend P and I were over for a weekend in Dorset as one of my closest friends was getting married. The wedding was just perfect; a summer garden party filled with creative ideas and handmade details. Gemma did almost everything herself (with the help of friends and family) and the results were beautiful and inspiring. If I’m allowed I'll share some of the official photos in the next few days!
On Sunday night P and I decided to treat ourselves to a night near the sea at The Bull Hotel in Bridport, which I have been longing to visit for a while. We are also thinking about moving to the area if we relocate to the UK, and The Bull was the perfect base for us to explore the town. As you can see from the pictures the hotel is beautiful....the owners have thought about every last detail, the rooms are all individually designed, well appointed and stylish, and the bed was one of the comfiest that I have ever slept in.
At the hotel there is a bar and restaurant (the ambience if of a high end gastropub) as well as the cosy Venner Bar (open on Friday and Saturday evenings), and the newly opened Stables serving cider, pizzas and pies. We ate in the hotel bar and I chose moules frites and P had fish pie, both which were delicious and the portions generous. Breakfast the next morning was also generous with a large selection of fruit, toast and Dorset cereals, with a choice of cooked options from porridge to local kippers, eggs Benedict, Florentine or Royal and the traditional English Breakfast, which we couldn’t resist!
The staff at The Bull are all very friendly, bubbly and relaxed and looked after us amazingly well; it was a perfect start to our West Dorset research!
