Wow, what a week...or should I say, what a few months! I'm sure if I had detailed our plans back in September that lots of you would have said we were mad to be taking on a renovation in another country with a 5-month-old baby, and you would have been right :)

But sadly our work couldn't be put on hold past the Autumn, as the race is on to get the house finished and online in time to take bookings for next summer, so we had to just hold our breath and dive straight in. It's been a challenging time, but we have survived it, just! The weather and so many other little things (as always when renovating) have been against us and we haven't (as we originally hoped) finished by Christmas, but that is another whole blog post for next year.

We will be returning to the chilly Balearics in late January in a bid to get the finishing touches done and the house photographed and online by late February, so watch this space...For now, we have arrived home and unpacked, washed what felt like 60 loads of laundry and managed the decorate the house for Christmas. Next on the agenda is present shopping, followed by food shopping and then hopefully sitting by the fire drinking wine, eating chocolate and RELAXING!

But first I wanted to share with you our Christmas table for this year, in case you are looking for inspiration. I wanted to create a really cosy feeling this year - I loved the eucalyptus garland that we had as the table centrepiece last year and so wanted to use something similar, but have added some dried hydrangeas from the garden to the garlands, which adds both colour and texture. Our white hydrangeas dried the most amazing colours - purples and greens and are just perfect for this time of year.

The lovely Lauren from The Happy Blossoms in Poundbury helped me pull it all together and made me the garlands, then we added the hydrangeas together and I couldn't be happier with the finished look. It's so silvery and soft and matches perfectly with the soft blue of the feather that I chose for the plate decoration.

Which brings me nicely onto the plates. A very talented lady (and old school friend of mine), Alice Peto, has designed a beautiful new English Country Garden collection to add to her already stunning selection of English bone china.

I fell in love with the Pea Pod and the blue matches our kitchen perfectly, so decided to use it to add some colour and interest to our Christmas table this year. I've always been slightly obsessed with blue and white ceramics and was thrilled to be able to add this beautiful new design to my collection.

It works so well with the gold cutlery and candelabra - I bought these candelabra from Anthropologie last year, but sadly they don't have the same ones any longer. They do have a similar style in white ceramic though, which is also beautiful and I also love this elegant design from Ralph Lauren.

Finally, as those of you who have followed me a while will know, as well as hydrangeas, blue and white ceramics and candles, I am also a little obsessed with natural textures in the home and couldn't resist including some feathers in the table scheme - I found these grey/blue ones on Amazon, where they have a whole range of colours - something simple and elegant to use if, like me, you are a little short on time!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your amazing support this year - it has been a magical whirlwind of a year - I can't believe how quickly it has gone!
